Dressing for a fuller figure

Shopping for a curvy body can be hard. Trust me, in the past two years I have been a size 14 up to a 22. My weight has now stablised and I have relised that it is not the size of the clothng which should determine wether it will suit you or not, rather the style and cut. I understand how difficult it can be to shop for a fuller figure and to make it easier I have created a list of Do's and Don'ts for curvy ladies.

The Do's
Just because a women has a few more curves doesn't mean clothing should wear baggy and tent like clothing. Often slightly tailored clothing can flatter a fuller figured woman's shape more so than a Moo-Moo.
If you have ample curves around the mid section opt for tops or dresses tailored just inder the bust that fall to the hem, this creates a waist and hides any unwanted tummy rolls.
Wear solid coloured clothing or simple patterns as they tend to flatter fuller figures better than bright, bold patterns.
Show off the clevage! Larger women generally have a great bust, so why not show it off? Wear tops that are slightly low cut but don't go overboard.
Wear boat cut necklines, these flatter women with broader shoulders and make the neck appear thinner
Buy wardrobe samples which you can mix unqiue vintage pieces with, see below for curvy figure staples.
Most importantly have fun with what you are wearing, be an individual and try new things if something doesn't work well, who cares?! Try something else, fashion is about trial and error.

The Don'ts
Avoid clothing with high necklines, in larger breasted women turtle necks create the apperance of a "Monoboob" for lack of a better word
Avoid blod, bright patterns these are often unflattering on fuller figure women and can sometimes make her seem larger
Don't wear clingy tight clothing that is too small for you, this look is very unflattering.
In all cases avoid clothing with bands around the hips! All these styles do is exaggerate the stomach area and make it appear rounder
Don't resort to baggy tent-like clothing, clothing cropped around the waist is often very flattering on fuller figure women
Most importantly don't wear something you don't fee comfortable in

Curvy Girls Must Have pieces:
Straight legged black jeans; These are highly versatile and can be dressed up or down
White blouse: again highly versatile and can be worn casually with sleeved rolled up and jeans or for the office with a skinny belt, black trouser pants and heels, Insure the blouse is slightly tailored around the waist or contains a tie belt to avoid looking box-shaped.
Black trouser pants, slimming and a must have classic
Summer Mid-lengthed skirts
Boat cut casual shirts
LBD slightly tailored under the bust either with elastic or a ribbion tie
Vintage simple patterned Maxi dresses
